Ayia Napa is home to some of Cyprus’s most recognisable beaches, ranging from energetic stretches of sand to quieter coastal bays.
Nissi Beach and Nissi Bay
Nissi Beach is one of the area’s most famous coastal attractions. Official tourism information describes it as a 600-metre beach approximately 3.3 kilometres west of central Ayia Napa. It is known for its golden sand, clear water, music and lively summer atmosphere.
Nearby Nissi Bay is particularly recognisable because of its small islet and natural sand lane, which can appear between the shore and the islet depending on sea conditions.
The area is popular with many types of visitors. Families often enjoy the shallow shoreline, couples appreciate the scenery and groups are drawn to the lively beach atmosphere.
Arriving earlier in the morning is advisable during the busiest summer months.
Makronissos Beach
Makronissos is a picturesque group of three bays situated approximately five kilometres from Ayia Napa’s centre. Its sheltered setting and sandy shoreline make it a popular alternative for travellers seeking a more relaxed beach experience.
